North Wales Police are continuing to work with partners to bring a positive change to Bangor High Street.

Officers and partner agencies have carried out visits to 10 businesses in Bangor city centre as part of a continued drive to improve safety and standards on the high street.

The operation is part of the Renew Bangor initiative, a multi-agency effort aimed at tackling issues identified by the local community, including drug supply, graffiti, anti-social behaviour, street drinking, and sexual violence.

The coordinated effort involved North Wales Police, Immigration Enforcement, North Wales Fire and Rescue Service, and Cyngor Gwynedd’s Trading Standards and Housing Enforcement Officers. Together, they engaged with local businesses to raise awareness of the project and ensure legal and safety compliance.

As a result of the visits, two premises were served with eviction notices, one for breaching residency conditions and the other for fire safety violations.

Sergeant Liam Carr of North Wales Police emphasised the importance of collaboration in making lasting change: “We continue to work closely with several partners to make Bangor a safe place to live, work and visit. Overall, we were pleased to see the majority of businesses being run legitimately, safely, and were supportive of the aim to bring a positive change to the high street.”

He added: “Renew Bangor will have the biggest impact if we continue to work together, and I would encourage residents to contact us with any concerns relating to the high street or the wider city.”

Anyone with concerns or issues relating to Bangor High Street should contact police, or relevant partner agencies.
