Listed building consent has been approved for a modern disabled toilet facility and a water bottle refill unit at Bangor Railway Station.

The application was made by Sonny Robinson of Network Rail Property (Wales and Western). The busy city railway forms part of the Chester South Junction to Holyhead Line in Gwynedd.

Bangor Station was designated as Grade II in 1988. The Line was opened this far on 1 May 1848, and was proposed to improve links between London and Dublin.

The proposals described how a highly modern ‘Changing Places’ development was designed to provide extra facilities for people with severe or multiple disabilities.

The application describes how the installation of a ‘Changing Places Toilet’ within the station, will serve passengers with severe or multiple disabilities. The proposed location is within the existing listed building and is currently being used for ad hoc storage.

In addition to the installation of a changing place toilet, the application also includes the provision of a freestanding water refill machine located outside of the existing mess room on platform 1.
