Members of Menai Bridge Rugby Club will be swapping scrums for saucepans this Saturday. 23 December, as they cook and serve free Christmas dinners to people in need in our local community.

The club will be supporting the Undeb Bangor Hot meals project, founded by kind-hearted club members Ben Chandler and Louis Molloy.

The project commenced on 30 September with support from Bangor City Council, who awarded the  project a £1,500 grant to assist with the purchase of new kitchen equipment and the hiring of the hall.

This student-led project has been gaining significant attention on social media. They interact with the audience, ask for recipe ideas, and involve other societies in the cooking, fostering a sense of community.

The food served caters to both vegetarians and carnivores, and it’s far removed from the concept of a soup kitchen. They offer nutritious, filling, and tasty meals to satisfy all palates and age groups. There are no questions asked when coming to get food; all they request is that you show up with an appetite.

If you know anyone who would benefit from a hot meal at no cost, along with some good company and Christmas cheer, please encourage them to attend the Penrhyn Hall (just off Bangor High Street, near the bus stops) between 3 and 6pm, where they will receive a warm welcome with no questions asked.
