G Williams and Sons Butchers, known locally as ‘Johnny 6’ will re-open in Bangor under new management on 1st December.

The re-opening will also be seen as a huge boost for Bangor High Street after the old business went into administration in July, having been trading in Bangor since 1870.

The new director of the business, Ashley Thomas, started as an apprentice in the business and worked in the butchers shop before it closed in July. Ashley said: “I used to work in the shop when it closed and started out there as an apprentice. The business will be trading under the same name as so many people know the shop already.

“I’d like to think a local butcher’s shop is something that Bangor has missed and hopefully will be welcomed back onto the High Street.”

The shop will be open between 7am-5pm Monday to Saturday and there will also be a welcome return of the hog-roast outside the shop on Thursday – Saturday most weeks.

Ashley added: “We will be employing 5 members of staff and they are all staff from the old shop, so people will already know them.

“We hope to bring the shop back to how it was a few years ago, with a happy and relaxed atmosphere.”

Customers can place orders for Christmas by visiting the shop from 1st December or message via the Facebook Page here: https://www.facebook.com/gwilliamsandson/
