All episodes of HBO’s the Watchmen, which filmed scenes at Penrhyn Castle in Bangor, are now available to stream for free.
Filming took place at Penrhyn Castle for a month in September 2018, when the house and gardens were transformed into a ‘major film set’ for the first time.
Jeremy Irons, who plays Adrian Alexander Veidt a.k.a. Ozymandias, a main character in Watchmen series, was seen several times in the area during the month long filming in Bangor.
The cast of Watchmen also includes Regina King, Don Johnson, Jean Smart, Tim Blake Nelson, Louis Gossett Jr., Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Hong Chau, Andrew Howard, Tom Mison, Frances Fisher, Jacob Ming-Trent, Sara Vickers, Dylan Schombing, and James Wolk.
Watchmen is HBO’s first attempt at superheroes and it looks to be a slick, modern adaptation of the classic comic version, rather than the 2009 movie. Courtesy of Damon Lindelof, the series appears to be an enthralling mixture of new and old with quotes familiar to fans of the original comic.
The series is set in America in an alternate contemporary reality, with no internet or smart phones, 34 years after the story in the comic book finished. Superheroes and masked vigilantes were outlawed due to their violent methods, but some of them gather around to start a revolution while others attempt to stop it.
Originally screened last 20 October in the US and on Sky Atlantic for UK viewers, you can now watch all 9 episodes free and without subscription here https://www.hbo.com/watchmen
