Frân Wen and Pontio are bringing a multi award-winning show for under 7s and their families to Bangor this Christmas.
Lliwia is the Welsh adaptation of ‘White’ which has excited audiences all over the world.
The original show, produced by Scotland’s Catherine Wheels and written by Andy Manley, won Best Show for Children and Young People at the UK Theatre Awards.
This is the 5th time that it’s been translated, following French, Swedish, Finnish and Norwegian. The Welsh version has been written by Angharad Tomos. The run will also have BSL interpreted performances (10/12/22).
Lliwia introduces children to a beautiful, colourless world where everything has a place and everything is in its place.
Titrwm and Tatrwm lead a simple and organised life. They live in a white tent and care for the birdhouses that surround them. Every day, the friends work diligently to ensure that their beautiful and organised world remains gleaming.
But what happens when the friends see colour for the very first time? Red… then yellow… then blue.
Experienced actors Owen Arwyn and Llyr Edwards will play the roles of Titrwm and Tatrwm, under the direction of Sera Moore Williams.
“We are very proud to share this magical show with young children once again. It was a huge success for the company in the past and the themes of celebrating diversity and change are as important today as ever. It’s a beautifully simple show full of humour.” said Gethin Evans, Frân Wen Artistic Director.
“Everyone who has seen the show can relate to it,” said Director Sera Moore Williams.
“The children respond to the simple, visual story and the adults are often surprised by how much they have enjoyed it.”
Although Lliwia is a Welsh language show, the script is very light on words making it easy for learners and non-Welsh speakers to follow. A vocabulary pack will be available pre-show.
