The former Debenhams building on Bangor High Street has been put up for sale, just a few months after planning was secured to turn the upper floors into flats and the converting the ground floor into retails units.
The property is now on the market with local estate agents Williams & Goodwin with an asking price of £295,000.
Gwynedd council planning officers approved plans to convert the upper floors of the building into five self contained apartments, with the ground floor becoming three retail units with new shop fronts.
Williams & Goodwin describe the property as being “ripe for redevelopment” – suggesting that whilst the ground floor is large enough to accommodate 3 self contained retail units, it would be equally adaptable for a large open space and taking into account its prominent location ideal for a restaurant, café or similar use, subject to planning consents.
The agents also said the location of the property makes the upper floor apartments ideal for the rental market, with similar rental units in the area being consistently high and modern 1 bedroomed apartments renting in the region of £450 to £550 pcm and 2 bedroomed units achieving £550 to £650 pcm.
Previous planning permission to turn the site into 49 student flats was withdrawn in 2015 as it was viewed as an overdevelopment.
