Fire crews from across North Wales have been battling a fire on Bangor Mountain after it reignited in the early hours of this morning.
Two crews attended the blaze just after 7.30pm last night, but the fire – involving 20,000spm of grass and gorse – reignited at 4.30am this morning. Crews from Bangor, Caernarfon and Abergele attended the incident.
Fire officers are now investigating the cause of the fire, which as yet is unknown. The fire service recently issued a warning to the public that deliberate fires can delay attendance at other serious incidents.
A spokeswoman for North Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were called just after 7.30pm to Bangor Mountain to a fire in the open involving 20,000sqm of grass and gorse.
“Two pumps from Bangor attended.
“We re-attended at 4.26am this morning and currently crews from Bangor, Caernarfon and Abergele remain at the scene.
“The cause of the fire is under investigation.”
