Eryri Co-Operative Cyf are inviting people to join their Bangor Pier Walk to raise awareness and money for dementia care on Sunday 21 May, at 11am.

Starting and finishing from Beach Road Car Park and walking down to Bangor Garth Pier, the walk is accessible to all and is approximately one mile.

Gwenda Hughes of Eryri Co-Operative Cyf, said: “Dementia is close to our hearts and an integral part of our business, arranging this walk gives the opportunity to raise more awareness of dementia in our local community.

“The walk is accessible to all, so what better to do on a Sunday morning than come with us for a walk on Garth Pier and raise money for patients living with dementia on Glaslyn Ward at Ysbyty Gwynedd.”

Emma Quaeck of Dementia Actif Gwynedd, said: “Dementia Actif Gwynedd are proud to be part of this event. We hope to encourage people of all ages and abilities to come together to enjoy an easy stroll along the pier.

“Our team will be on hand to cheer you on and to make sure that every one’s walking at a pace that suits them. What a great opportunity to get those all-important daily steps in to help your health & wellbeing – one mile is the equivalent of about 2,000 steps.

“Walking with others is always so much fun. We are also happy that any donations on the day will go towards such a worthwhile cause.”

Avril Wayte from Friends of Bangor Garth Pier, said: “Friends of Bangor Garth Pier are delighted to welcome Dementia Actif and Eryri Co-operative to the pier and support such a worthwhile cause. We’re looking forward to taking part in this walk on 21st May.”
