A Christmas shoebox appeal has been launched for the homeless people in Bangor, with the aim of providing a gift they wouldn’t normally receive and containing essential items that will make a positive difference to their lives.

Lauren Toal, who is organising the appeal, said: “It’s coming up to the start of the Christmas season…I will be organizing the Bangor Christmas Shoebox Appeal again this year to collect donations for the homeless community in Bangor.

“I first organized the appeal in 2016 and over the past few years the amazing generous support from the local community has seen the annual appeal collect and donate well over 100 shoeboxes to the homeless community. The success of last year’s appeal helped the hostel to continue to use the donations throughout the year.

“The concept is pretty simple: wrap a shoebox in Christmas gift paper and fill it with items and a message for the recipient. The boxes will be collected and distributed to homeless men, women and young adults. “

You can fill up a shoebox by yourself, as a family, with your housemates, friend or work colleagues and help put a smile on someone’s face this Christmas.

This years collection points are: DW Sports, Tafarn y Glôb, Academi Shop & Bangor Students Union (4th floor Pontio).

Single item donations will also be collected in an open shoebox at DW Sports and Tafran Y Glôb. At these points there will be an open shoebox that single items can be donated, once the box is filled it will be wrapped and added to the collection.

The donations will be collected on 14th December 2019
