North Wales Police have issued a warning to bike owners, after a number of road and mountain bikes have been stolen in Upper Bangor recently.

Police issued the following advice in response to the recent thefts:

  • Mountain bikes are expensive assets, be mindful of who may be following you home from a bike track or centre and when you arrive home to put your bike away securely.
  • To take adequate measures to ensure your bike is kept secure in your home or garage by using a land anchor or similar device.
  • Always lock your bike up when you are out and about, even if you only leave it for a short time.
  • Don’t leave your bike rack on your car after use, it advertises the fact there’s a potentially expensive mountain bike in your house or garage that’s worth stealing.
  • Consider using bike marking and taking photos of your bike as well as ensuring you know your bike’s serial/crank number.
