The recycling bins in the Beach Road car park are being removed due to misuse and repeated problems with fly-tipping.
The bins have been provided at the site for a number of years in partnership with Gwynedd Council and the social enterprise Antur Waunfawr, who provide a network of recycling bins for papers, magazines, glass and cans.
The service initially played an important part of the local waste management strategy, but with the provision of weekly recycling services from the council for every property and the continuous misuse of the bins and fly-tipping, the council felt they had no alternative but to remove the bins from the site.

A letter from the council to the local councillor for Hirael Keith Jones, said: “Due to the extreme difficulty to control the use of the bins with a significant amount of misuse taking place i.e. contamination of the bins with unsuitable material and fly-tipping in the proximity which is costly to clear.
“With the councils budget under substantial pressure we have no option but to bring this service to an end.”
Mr Jones said: “Everyone is aware of the continuous fly tipping and the problems this practice causes so sadly the bins will be removed.
“I have however, arranged for that area to be replaced with benches , flower boxes and general waste bins in due course.”
