An area of woodland in Bangor, known as Penrhyn Arms Woods, has sold for £14,253 at auction.

The woodland extends to approximately 10.67 acres and borders onto the City Centre, but does not include Bangor Mountain.

The land, previously owned by Bangor City Council, was described as an ‘unusual opportunity’ and was sold by Online Auction last week, with a starting price of just £1.

The Estate Agents All Wales Auction, advised potential bidders: “The area is a sloping site with woodland which may give a variance on the usable area. Buyers should make their own enquires and satisfy themselves to the area being purchased.”

The auction description didn’t give any indication whether there has been any previous planning permissions sought, or the likelihood of any future planning applications being successful.

A spokesperson for Bangor City Council said: “Selling Penrhyn Arms Woods allows the Council to focus its efforts and resources on other assets, including the Pier and Ashley Jones Fields.”
