A teacher from Penrhosgarnedd, Bangor, is set to appear in a new series on S4C.
The broadcaster has announced the names of the eight newly-qualified teachers – and the five schools across Wales in which they teach – who will feature in its new fly-on-the-wall series Athrawon.
The series, a Carlam production for S4C, will capture some of the highs and lows of their first year in the job.
Cai Fôn Davies, from Penrhosgarnedd, is a Welsh and Drama teacher at Ysgol y Creuddyn, Conwy.
Across five, hour-long episodes, Athrawon will offer an insight into the classroom as the newcomers grapple with their duties, as well as an honest look at the challenges facing schools today.
Cai said:
“Being part of Athrawon – and having the opportunity to share the reality of school life from the perspective of a new teacher – has been quite an experience. Having cameras film my lessons and follow me around the school was certainly surreal! Nevertheless, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it, and I’d like to thank everyone at Ysgol y Creuddyn who has supported and encouraged me over the past year.
“I hope that, through this series, viewers will gain an insight into both the challenges and the rewards of working in education today. My first year of teaching has certainly been one to remember!”

Athrawon, which has received support from the Welsh Government via Creative Wales, starts on Wednesday 9 September, to coincide with the start of the new school year.
