Bangor Rugby Club has launched a brand-new website and Club Lottery scheme. Two major initiatives aimed at strengthening the club’s community roots, supporting more local players than ever before, and securing its long-term future.

With Welsh rugby facing financial uncertainty, Bangor RFC is taking matters into its own hands. The club’s new website not only showcases its history, teams, events, and community engagement, but also promotes wider opportunities for people to get involved, from volunteering and coaching to using the club’s facilities for local sports, schools, and private events.

“This isn’t just about rugby — it’s about community,” said Club Chair Sean Kelly. “We want Bangor Rugby Club to continue being a space where people come together, whether that’s to play, watch, or celebrate. These projects are about building something sustainable for Bangor.”

The newly launched Club Lottery offers a fun and simple way for the public to support the club while being in with a chance to win. Each draw has a guaranteed monthly winner, with 40% of ticket fees going into the prize fund and 60% invested directly back into the club.

The club’s current fundraising goal is £7,000, enough to repair and upgrade to a new LED floodlight system, ensuring players can train and play safely all year round.

“The new lights will make a huge difference, not just for our players but for local schools and community teams who use the grounds,” said President Andy Owen. “We’re proud that the club serves as a shared space for so many groups in Bangor. This project is about keeping that spirit alive.”

The club’s facilities are regularly used by local schools and community groups, meaning the improvements will benefit hundreds of young people and families across Gwynedd.

Anyone can join the Club Lottery for just £5 per month via the new website at www.bangor-rugby.co.uk. The draw takes place at the end of each month, with all proceeds helping Bangor RFC light up its future, quite literally.

“Every ticket sold helps us invest back into Bangor’s sporting community,” added Sian Baston. “It’s a small action that makes a big impact.”
