A fire which caused damage to a room in Bangor over the weekend is thought to have been caused by a phone charging cable, a statement from the North Wales Fire and Rescue Service said.
Two appliances attended the incident and there was damage to cables and the carpet.
Luckily, no one was injured on this occasion. However, the incident highlights the need to take care when charging your electric devices.
The first service gave the following safety advice:
🔌 Never leave items on charge unattended for long periods and ensure the plug to the charger is switched off even if it’s not connected to your phone or electrical item.
🔌 Don’t mix and match chargers or use aftermarket chargers – always use the charger supplied.
🔌 Always follow the manufacturers’ instructions and guidance when using electrical items and turn off and unplug them before you go to bed.
