The Bangor Coastguard Rescue Team helped rescue two people who were stranded on rocks by the incoming tide at Penmaenmawr on Sunday, 12 December.

A spokesperson from Llandudno Coastguard said: “We were tasked yesterday afternoon to Penmaenmawr, along with Bangor Coastguard Rescue Team, to 2 people who were stranded on rock armour after being trapped by the incoming tide.

“Forming a human chain and using a rope handrail, we were able to assist the pair back to the cycle path uninjured.”

The Coastguard Team offered the public the following advice:

To avoid becoming cut off by the tide:

  • Before you head out, make sure it’s safe. Check the tide tables.
  • While you’re out, be aware of your surroundings and the tide’s direction.
  • A beach can seem like a vast playground but the tide can come in surprisingly quickly.
  • Remember, if you get into difficulty, or see someone in difficulty, dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
