Following talks with Arriva Buses Wales today, the company have now presented a new and improved pay offer.
They will therefore be suspending strike action across North Wales and will be balloting members on the new offer.
Bus drivers began strike action at 6am on Sunday 14th November, causing severe disruption to services across North Wales.
The strike action followed a ballot of Arriva drivers where 95 per cent of them voted in favour of the industrial action.
Arriva had offered to increase driver’s pay to £11.59 per hour back-paid to January 2021 and a further increase to £12.00 per hour in 2022, but this was rejected by the Unite Union.
Nearly 400 Arriva bus drivers from six depots, including Bangor, Wrexham and Rhyl, voted overwhelmingly for industrial action last month.
Union leaders said North Wales staff are paid £1.80 less an hour than colleagues in north-west England.
Discussions have been on going between Unite Cymru and Arriva Buses Wales in a bid to find a resolution.
Regional officer, Jo Goodchild, said: “Unite is suspending its industrial action at Arriva following an improved pay offer from the employer.
“We will now be balloting our members on the new offer.”
A statement from Arriva Wales said: “Arriva can confirm that its bus operations will resume in North Wales and Chester from tomorrow morning. The announcement comes following further talks with the trade union, Unite this week which led to a suspension of the strike.
“All services are due to run from the first scheduled bus on Friday 19th November, but Arriva warns that early morning services may still experience some disruption as it mobilises its operation overnight.”
