Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board have appealed to the public to choose the ‘appropriate health care service’ after the Emergency Department at Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor was extremely busy on Tuesday 18th August.

Health officials voiced their concerns that patients were attending the Emergency Department with ‘minor injuries or illnesses’ which could equally be treated by visiting a GP, Pharmacy or at a Minor Injury Unit.

In a social media post on Tuesday, Betsi Cadwaladr Health Board said: “Our Emergency Department at Ysbyty Gwynedd is extremely busy at present.

“Today people have been attending our Emergency Department with conditions such as earache and back pain.

“Minor injuries or illnesses can be treated by either visiting a GP, Pharmacy or at our Minor Injury Units.

“Help us by choosing the appropriate health care service for your needs.

“Do you really need to visit ED?”
