An exciting opportunity has been announced to work on a public art scheme in Bangor.

Cyngor Gwynedd wants to commission an artist, or artists, to develop and implement a public art project in the form of a mural on the Anheddau building, on Sackville Road, Bangor, as part of the Gwynedd Town Centre Regeneration scheme.

Town centres are already facing a range of challenges, including a decline in sites appearance within town centres, which contribute significantly towards the deterioration of the high street and town centres throughout the Country.

In order to respond to the challenges facing the town centres of Gwynedd, Cyngor Gwynedd has been successful in securing funding from UK Government Shared Prosperity Fund. The scheme has several projects that will contribute towards regenerating Gwynedd town centres, including a project to develop and implementing permanent public art schemes in the centre of Gwynedd towns.

The aim of the scheme is to create basic improvements, improve infrastructure to improve individuals’ perception of the town, and to ensure that the experience of residents’ visitors and users of the town is positive.

This commission invites artist/artists to submit a quote to design, create and paint a mural on Anheddau, Sackvile Road, Bangor Building, using suitable materials which will withstand the weather for years to come. The mural will interpret and tell the story of Bangor City culture and heritage in a way which is impressive, relevant and educational, giving the Local people a sense of pride and identity.
