Over 100 patients didn’t turn up for their coronavirus vaccination appointment at Ysbyty Enfys, Bangor over the weekend, and a further 90 people failed to keep their appointment on Monday, 29 march.
Despite many vaccination appointments being missed the slots were filled at short notice thanks to the diligence of the vaccination team and no vaccines were wasted.
Appointments have already been made, and letters are in the post for patients in Cohorts 8 and 9 (50-59 years of age) for the next two weeks.
Individuals in their 40’s are now being called in for their vaccination, in order to fill the Ysbyty Enfys capacity over the next week, and to use the vaccine available there. Some of the Surgeries and the Health Board admin team are calling these patients in, working down from those aged 49 years of age.
Those in their 40’s, who don’t receive a phone call this week, should receive their appointment letters within the next 2-4 weeks.
There is no official phone line to self-refer for an appointment so far, so please do not phone the hospital or your GP surgery, you will be notified when your appointment is ready.
An appeal on Facebook said: “Please make every effort to attend your vaccination appointment, not doing so creates a lot of administration pressure for the Surgeries and the Health Board, as there is capacity to vaccinate 1,000 patients a day at Ysbyty Enfys, and we want to complete this vaccination programme as swiftly as possible.”
