Bangor born Aled Jones, host of the BBC’s Songs Of Praise, has been taken off air by the BBC after sexual harassment allegations have been made against him.

The Sun on Sunday have reported that: “There is an allegation that inappropriate messages and contact with a female member of staff took place.”

Aled Jones has voluntarily agreed not to work while the investigation takes place. A spokesperson for Mr Jones said: “Although not related to any broadcast work, Aled voluntarily agreed not to go on the BBC whilst the matter is investigated.

“Whilst he accepts that his behaviour over a decade ago was occasionally juvenile, as was that of others, he never intended to harass or distress and he strongly denies any inappropriate contact.”

Aled, 46, who grew up on Anglesey, was a chorister at Bangor Cathedral, before shooting to childhood fame singing “Walking in the Air” the song from Channel 4‘s animated film The Snowman, the record reached No. 5 in the UK charts in 1985.

In more recent years Aled Jones joined ITV Breakfast where he presented Daybreak alongside Lorraine Kelly and Kate Garraway. He currently presents the weekend morning show, Weekend (2014–present) for the BBC, he has also presented Cash in the Attic, Escape to the Country and Going Back Giving Back.
