In an encouraging display of community spirit, staff from Adra, North Wales’ largest housing association, have come together to collect food for a local food bank in Bangor, providing much-needed support to families in our communities.
Over the past month, staff have brought food items and toiletries to donate to the food bank. In addition, a financial donation towards the purchase of food was received from one of our contractors, Anglesey and Gwynedd Groundworks Ltd towards the cause.
The items collected were donated to the Coed Mawr Foodbank in Bangor, which is in the centre of one of Adra’s communities. This is a foodbank that has seen a significant increase in demand for its services recently.
With the rising cost of living and the ongoing economic challenges, many families in our communities are struggling. The aim of the contribution from Adra staff is to alleviate some of this burden and give relief to those in need over the summer holidays.

Delyth Williams, Adra’s Director of People and Communications, said: “We are proud of our team for their generosity and willingness to help others in our communities.”
“At Adra, we believe in giving back to the communities we serve. This food drive is just one example of how our staff embody our core values.”
“Seeing the joint effort and the positive impact it has on our community is truly inspiring,” says Beth Nicol, an Adra staff member who took part in the food drive. “It reminds us how we can all make a difference when we come together for a common cause.”
Ifan Owen, owner of Anglesey and Gwynedd Groundworks Ltd, said: “We are proud to be able to support Adra’s staff campaign to collect food for a local food bank as part of our social value work.
“It is important to us that we can give back to the communities we have been working in. And it is a great example of how businesses and individuals can come together to support their communities.”
The foodbank expressed its gratitude for the support, highlighting the importance of community partnerships in tackling food insecurity. The donations will go a long way to helping the food bank provide essential food and supplies to local families in need.
