Councillor John Wyn Williams has been elected as the Mayor of Bangor for 2019/20. Bangor City council members voted unanimously for Mr Williams to take over the role at a meeting of the full council.

Having spent 2018/19 as the deputy Mayor, Mr Williams will now assume office from the outgoing Mayor, Councillor John Wynn Jones.

Councillor Owen Hurcum has been elected as the deputy mayor for 2019/20. He said: “I am extremely humbled that Bangor City Council have today entrusted me with the position of Deputy Mayor to Bangor.

“I look forward to serving this city and everyone who is part of its community. Diolch yn fawr iawn Bangor!”
