Winds of up to 60mph have battered North Wales overnight, causing a large tree to fall inside the main gate of Penrhyn Castle in Bangor, which has forced the National Trust property to close to the public today. Staff are working on clearing the area and ensuring the property is safe to re-open as soon as possible.
Strong and gusty winds are likely to persist throughout the day with further rain or drizzle at times. Winds should ease through tonight but skies will remain mostly cloudy and there will be further patches of rain or drizzle.
Warm Weather
On Wednesday cloud and any lingering patches of drizzle will clear away with some long sunny spells developing. Feeling warm but there will be a moderate to locally fresh wind.
By Thursday the weather should be fine and dry day, with temperatures of 17°C which will fall short of the highs of 25°C predicted for the Midlands and Southern England.
The warm weather is set to last for the weekend, with rain and thundery showers predicted for the beginning of next week.
