A new series of workshops in Bangor is offering singers the chance to explore the connection between yoga, breath, and the voice in a supportive and uplifting setting. Yoga for the Voice is designed for anyone who wants to improve their vocal skills, build confidence, and discover the joy of harmony and vocal improvisation, whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned performer.
The sessions will take place at 109 High Street, Bangor (LL57 1NS) from 4.30–6.30pm on Sunday 26th October 2025, and will continue over the following three Sundays.
Participation costs £5–£10 (concessions/waged), and booking is essential at least two days before each workshop by emailing yogaforvoice@gmail.com.
Led by Damon del Strother, the workshops will combine gentle yoga-inspired movement with vocal warm-ups, breathing exercises, and collaborative games. Participants will learn simple chants and songs, exploring the expressive and healing potential of their voices, accompanied by guitar, Indian harmonium, and percussion.
“I am very happy to be able to offer these Yoga for the Voice workshops,” said Damon. “Yoga and singing have been lifelong interests. I began meditating at nineteen and later trained as a Sivananda yoga teacher in India. Over the years, I’ve found that yoga energy can open the voice in a way that’s not only good for singing, but healing and uplifting for the whole self.”
Damon, who performs in a band and regularly leads kirtan (devotional singing) and song circles across North Wales, brings decades of experience with music and meditation to these sessions.
The workshops promise to be fun, freeing, and deeply restorative, offering a space for creativity, connection, and joy through sound.
