This Easter, National Trust Cymru invites visitors to pop on their ears and hop into the easter holidays at Penrhyn Castle and Garden.

Between March 23 and April 1, a ten-point trail celebrates Easter and the arrival of spring to Penrhyn Castle. The easter adventures trail gives the entire family a chance to get out and about with a range of stations to find and activities to complete. Whether they’re making some noise on the brand-new music wall in the woodland Dell or joining the spring tea party in the Walled Garden, there’s plenty to keep everyone busy.

The trail features some incredible animal sculptures crafted by local artists. A giant willow frog created by Wispy Willows Creations can be found settled in the Bog Garden, while wooden rabbits, some owls and a badger carved by Ian Williams Chainsaw Carving can be seen dotted around the ground.

Kim White, Visitor Experience Officer at Penrhyn Castle, said; ‘Over the past few years, we have been lucky to work with some fantastic local artists to create a great collection of larger-than-life animals. This year we’re adding even more into the mix, as a carved wooden badger and owls join the group. These pieces of art really help bring the trail to life and gives our visitors a chance to connect with nature.’

Colourful eggs, ribbons and banners bring a festival feeling to the vast grounds of Penrhyn Castle as the gardens come to life with daffodils brightening the castle Keep, a beautiful tulip display wakes in the Walled Garden and a walk around the grounds reveals the blossom of the Rhododendrons, Camelia, and Azalea.

Inside the castle, creatures and grotesques feature heavily in the corridor, gallery and grand staircase. With carvings in each corner, this castle is a perfect place for children to discover. Over the easter period, families can even try and find the chicks hiding in the opulent rooms and

The easter trail runs between March 23 and April 1 and costs £3 per child. This includes a trail sheet, pencil and chocolate egg. There is a choice of either a chocolate egg or a vegan and Free From chocolate egg. Both eggs are made using Rainforest Alliance Certified cocoa. Normal admission prices do apply and Penrhyn Castle is open between 10am and 4pm, with last entry at 3pm.
