A teenager has been arrested following a fire in a garage on Caernarfon Road, Bangor, this morning.
North Wales Fires Service were called at 9.15am to the fire on Caernarfon Road, near Home Bargains. One crew from Bangor and another crew from Caernarfon attended the incident.
Caernarfon Road was temporarily closed while emergency services were at the scene, although the fire was quickly brought under control and crews were ‘damping down’ by 10.15am. Local residents were advised to stay indoors and close their windows and doors as smoke billowed from the fire.
The fire is suspected to have been started deliberately and a 14-year-old has been arrested in connection to the incident.
In a statement North Wales Police said: “Shortly after 9.30am today, Thursday, 14 July, we were called to assist colleagues from North Wales Fire and Rescue Service following a garage fire on Caernarfon Road, Bangor.
“The fire is suspected to have been a deliberate ignition and a 14-year-old has been arrested in connection to the incident.
“Enquiries into the incident are ongoing.”
