An application has been submitted to Gwynedd Council to accommodate a new home shopping delivery area and ‘click and collect’ shopping facility at Morrisons in Bangor.
According to the planning application, the proposed new home shopping service yard area will require a number of access alterations to be made around the site to accommodate the safe movement of vehicle and pedestrian access in and around the site.
The existing main vehicular access route into the Morrisons Bangor site on Holyhead Road will remain the same.
The northeast car park will see the greatest change as the old service yard has been proposed to increase in size in order to accommodate the home delivery service at Morrisons Bangor. The proposal will allow for two shopping delivery vans to safely park within the proposed new service yard area without impacting the stores existing deliveries and allow safe unloading and loading of delivery vehicles.
A small number of car parking spaces will be lost to form this area of the site. This part of the site will also see the reconfiguration of the existing fence line and delivery access gates with a new car park layout and delivery access route proposed within the site. A new pedestrian route has been proposed around the perimeter of the new service yard compound to ensure that existing level access from Glanrafon Hill will be maintained.
The site will also see the installation of a new heavy duty service yard ramp. This will allow for existing access into the store to be improved significantly by providing access for a forklift from the service yard into the store as well as acting as a designated new access route for home shopping deliveries and the click and collect service. The proposal will continue to utilise the existing site levels in line with current building regulations to ensure that safe site access is provided for both vehicles and pedestrians in and around the site.
The existing car park will be reconfigured to provide delivery access and new click and collect parking facilities
