Plans have been submitted to create a click and collect facility for groceries at Asda in Bangor.
There is currently no grocery collection at the Bangor store and customers are required to travel to Llangefni for this service.
The planning proposal submitted to Gwynedd Council would provide new grocery collection facilities, with a ‘Grocery Collection Canopy’ located in the car park to the south-east of the store.
According to the planning statement “The application seeks to improve on Asda’s existing commitment to its ‘Home Shopping’ service which provides for customers to shop online.”
Home shopping storage pods will be used as a storage area so groceries, which have been picked from the retail shop floor, can be collected and stored ready for dispatch. The goods will then be loaded into customers vehicles, which will be parked at Grocery Collection Facility during specific time slots throughout the day.
The addition of the click and collect bays would see “minor adjustments to parking spaces and electric charge points” according to the planning document.
The planning statement concluded: “The increased provision is to meet both current and future demand for the home shopping offer”.
