Gwynedd Council are investigating an incident of fly-tipping of woodchip and commercial waste at Aberogwen car park near Talybont, Bangor, between Monday afternoon, 4th December and Tuesday morning 5th December.

A Gwynedd Council statement read: “Fly-tipping is a serious criminal offence, and everyone has a role to play in informing the Council of anything they may have witnessed. Would be offenders should also be aware that the maximum fine for fly-tipping can be up to £50,000, or even imprisonment.

“If you are giving your waste to a tradesperson, always ask where they are taking it and check that they are registered by asking to see their waste carrier licence (this can also be checked at http://www.flytippingactionwales.org/en/). If your waste is found dumped, you could be fined up to £5,000 for breach of duty of care. Everyone, whether householder or business has a social and legal responsibility to make sure that waste is disposed of properly.”
