North Wales Police are commencing a re-launch of the ‘PubWatch’ scheme.

Police officers will take a more visible approach to working more closely with landlords in Gwynedd North, to effect a reduction in anti-social behaviour, drug use and violent crime associated with licensed premises.

District Inspector Jon Aspinall said: “Criminal behaviour is not only detrimental to society, but it damages businesses. We want to work with licensed businesses to ensure that their premises are no longer seen as an ‘easy target’ for those who wish to deal or take drugs, or behave in an anti-social or violent manner.”

He added: “ The PubWatch scheme is a two-way partnership, and we will be working closely with the licensees, owners, local authority and other partners to ensure that visitors to Gwynedd North, and local residents, can enjoy socialising without fear of violence or disorder”.

PubWatch in Bangor was established several years ago as a joint venture between local Police and Licensed Premises the focus being to achieve a safe, secure and responsibly led social drinking environment in all licensed premises and thereby reduce alcohol-related crime.
