The A55 was closed in both directions today after sheep made their way on to the carriageway near Bangor.

The incident began around 8.40am on Saturday morning, 23 November, when the sheep were spotted on the road near Junction 11 at Bangor,

Officers from Traffic Wales initially dealt with the incident but the sheep soon made their way back onto the road. Officers then spent the next hour trying catch the sheep, before eventually taking them off the carriageway in their vehicle.

Long delays built up in both directions, before the road finally reopened at around 9.45am.

Traffic Wales released photos of their officers with one of the sheep and said: “Our traffic officers with the sheep they rescued that was attempting to pull the wool over their eyes by making illegal ewe turns on the A55 .”
