Plas Hedd care home in Bangor are the successful applicants in this round of the Adra Housing Association’s Community Investment Fund.

The fund is a chance for community or voluntary groups to receive grant funding of up to a £1,000. The grant funding is aims to improve communities and the lives of residents in areas where Adra provides housing.

Plas Hedd, in Maesgeirchen, can accommodate 28 residents and they work closely with the local community. Local councillor Nigel Pickavance made an application to receive funding to buy games on behalf of the home. Many of the residents here are living with dementia, there are many benefits of playing board games when living with dementia.

Mari from Adra Community Team visited Plas Hedd recently and she said: “It was a pleasure visiting Plas Hedd to see the residents enjoying the games and equipment they bought with the funding from the Fund.

Nigel said: “Theses games are going to make a huge difference to the lives of the residents here at Plas Hedd, the interactive cat is a big hit with everyone. Both staff and residents are going to benefit from all the games we’ve bought. Thanks you very much Adra.”

Recently local children started visiting Plas Hedd at the weekend to socialise and play games with the residents.

Mari added: “There is so much good work going on at Plas Hedd with every member off staff going the extra mile to ensure that it’s welcoming and homely.”
