Year four pupils from Ysgol Glancegin in Bangor and a team of artists recently joined forces in the name of wellbeing.
The artist takeover was part of Frân Wen’s ‘Fi Di Fi’ programme which uses the arts to encourage young people to understand the importance of wellbeing.
Mari Morgan from Frân Wen said: “It’s important that young people are aware of the importance of wellbeing so we use a variety of art forms to help deliver the message.”
Artists are introduced to schools and host activities that tackle issues such as confidence, welfare and health.
“We work closely with the schools and pupils and encourage them to talk about their own feelings and to empathise with others.
“We really want to get the message out there. There’s already so much pressure on young people, with social media and school work. Exercising the mind is as important as exercising the body.” added Mari.
The project was supported by Creative Gwynedd and Cartrefi Cymunedol Gwynedd Housing Assocition.
Elin Williams, community Involvement Manager at Cartrefi Cymunedol Gwynedd said: “One of the five themes set out in our community strategy is health and wellbeing, and we’re proud to be supporting the this project which uses innovative and creative ways to support youngsters in our communties.
“It was our pleasure to provide financial support to such a brilliant project and I’d like to thank Frân Wen for the opportunity to work in partnership with them.”
