Staff at the Bangor Recycling Centre have won the Gwynedd Council People’s Choice Award at the Council’s annual ‘At its Best Awards Ceremony.’

For the third year, the council asked the residents of Gwynedd to nominate and help find the deserving winners of the “Gwobr y Bobl” – People’s Award.

The award is given to council workers who show particularly good service over a number of years, or for a recent incident where staff went the extra mile to help and residents wanted to show their appreciation.

As overall winners the Bangor Recycling Team received a certificate and trophy in recognition of their hard work.

A spokesperson from Gwynedd Council said: “Congratulations to the Bangor Recycling Centre Team for winning the people’s choice award, they are keen to help all visitors to the centre, always with a smile on their faces.

Gwynedd Council Chair, Councillor Annwen Hughes said: “The ‘Gwobr y Bobl’ award has become an important way to show our appreciation to those staff members who go the extra mile to provide a first class service for the people of Gwynedd.

“Despite the cuts to public services, Council staff continue to make a real contribution to our communities day in and day out.

“We hope that the ‘Gwobr y Bobl’, and the appreciation of local people, can help to celebrate the important work they do and inspire others to follow their example.

“Every individual or team who receives a ‘Gwobr y Bobl’ nomination will be told of the feedback received.”
