Three men who travelled from Birmingham and stole champagne, whisky and other goods from Asda and Morrisons in Bangor have been jailed.
Catalin Grigore, 22, Alexandru Andronache, 20, and Casu Tudorel, 18, all pleaded guilty to stealing goods worth a total of £3,800, after their car was stopped by police on the A55 on 5th March.
The men were jailed after they appeared at Llandudno magistrates court, Grigore was jailed for 44 weeks, Andronache for 36 weeks and Tudorel was sent to prison for 20 weeks.
All three men refused to answer any questions when interviewed by police and they offered no explanation on how they managed to leave the stores without setting off security alarms, some items still had security tags on them.
District judge Gwyn Jones said: “Offences of this nature are significantly on the increase and any sentence must reflect the prevalence of such matters.”
The defence lawyers for the three said the men had no money.
