A logo designed by a primary school pupil has been chosen to symbolise multi-agency initiative ‘Renew Bangor’ which launched in March.

District Inspector Ian Roberts tasked children from Ysgol Glancegin, in Maesgeirchen, to create a logo design that would represent the aims of Renew Bangor and how proud they are to live in the area.

The winning design by year 6 pupil Georgia was chosen by Gwynedd North District Inspector Ian Roberts and will now be used by police and partners to represent the ongoing work in the city.

The initiative has already seen several arrests in connection with offences including drug supply, violent behaviour, money laundering and theft.

Further work is continuing to tackle key issues identified by the local community and improve the image of the high street.

District Inspector Ian Roberts said: “This initiative is wholly for the benefit of the community of Bangor, which is why we wanted our youngest residents to become involved.

“The designs submitted by the children at Ysgol Glancegin were all excellent and gave a great representation of all Bangor has to offer.

“It is clear to me that they love where they live, and I cannot wait to see the winning design being used across the city to advertise the ongoing partnership work.”
