A fundraising page has been set up in support of a well-known boxing coach in Bangor after he suffered serious injuries following a fall.
Brian ‘Bach’ Williams, who has been training young boxers for more than 30 years, suffered a serious neck injury following a fall and was transferred to Stoke Hospital where he underwent surgery.
The lengthy surgery was successful but Brian now faces a long rehabilitation process and his family are uncertain how long he will remain in hospital and how much aftercare he will need.
Brian was recently given the ‘Freedom of the City of Bangor’ in recognition of his decades of hard work training local youngsters in the community.
A fundraising page has been set up states: “When it comes to local heroes, few names shine as brightly as ‘Brian Bach.’ He is well-known for his contributions, helping everyone from young people in the boxing ring to assisting elderly residents with their gardens; the list of his good deeds goes on endlessly. Without a doubt, he is a true hero. Our community has greatly benefited from his dedication and volunteer work spanning many decades.
“Now, it’s time for us all to show our appreciation for this remarkable individual and give back to support him and his family.”
“Let’s come together in the unique way our community knows how, especially in times of need, to help one another.”
