A mural in Bangor, which commemorates the flooding of a Welsh village, has been restored after it was vandalised last year.

The mural has been re-painted on a wall outside Storiel Art Gallery and Museum in Bangor, by local artist Pete Jones.

The slogan on the mural reads  ‘Cofiwch Dryweryn’ (Translated as ‘Remember Tryweryn’) which refers to the flooding of the village of Capel Celyn to create a reservoir in 1965.  More recently the phrase has developed to become a symbol of Welsh culture and identity.

Pete also added a tribute to the NHS on the nural, which is significant as he spent 30 years as a nurse in the NHS and his wife and daughter continue to work as nurses.

Well done Pete, great work!
