Bangor University students will be putting their fingers on buzzers in this years’ competition of University Challenge.
BBC Two’s University Challenge is the UK’s annual university TV quiz show, with teams of four competing head-to-head across a range of question categories, including science, history, literature, and current events.
This year Bangor University are pitted against another esteemed institution of higher learning, University of Edinburgh, in what is sure to be a battle of wits and knowledge.
This year’s team from Bangor will feature:
Captain – Jack Cunliffe, Msc Counselling
Nihal Bhatt, BSc Biology with Biotechnology
Luke O’Hagan, BA History
Katie Barnes, BSc Marine Biology
Reserve – Dominic Noakes, BA Philosophy and Religion
Bangor University has appeared on the television show several times since it started to air on the BBC in 1994. Bangor made it through to the second-round in 2004 and 2014 and through to the Semi-Finals in 1999 and 2013 and they also reached the second-round last year.
This year’s University Challenge began on 17 July 2023 on BBC Two. This was the first series to be hosted by Amol Rajan, who succeeded Jeremy Paxman. The series employed a newly designed studio set.
Bangor University will feature in their first-round match on BBC Two on Monday 2nd October, at 8.30pm.
