Bangor LINKS, a student led division of St. John Cymru Wales, has won a £1,000 Aviva Community Fund Award.

After being in the top group of projects to receive 1000 votes, the division underwent due-diligence checks with the Charities Trust which have now been completed and passed, the award was announced yesterday.

The funding, which will be released shortly, will enable the division to purchase new equipment to develop volunteers as well as improve the service they provide to the community.

LINKS is the University section of St John Cymru Wales falling under the Youth umbrella. Since it’s establishment it has been rolled out to a number of Universities across Wales, with Bangor joining in September 2016.

LINKS aims to involve students in the activities of St John Ambulance by providing First Aid training and the ability to head out on duties to cover a wide variety of events.

Bangor LINKS is open to any Student or Staff member within Bangor University and is free to join.

The Aviva Community Fund offers the chance to obtain funding for an important cause in your community. It’s open to everyone – the general public as well as Aviva customers and employees (whether associated with Aviva or not).

To enter a project for your community you must tell Aviva what a difference these much-needed funds could make. Once the project has enough votes from friends, family and supporters in your community and the project can then be entered into the Finals, where a judging panel awarded the funds.
