The Bangor Chinese School celebrated the Chinese New Year – The Year of the Tiger – with a special online event today, Sunday 6 February.
Saying goodbye to the Ox, we entered the Year of the Tiger on February 1, 2022.
Though the pandemic continues to overshadow the occasion, with public festivities once again pared down or cancelled in many cities, millions of families around the world will still be celebrating at home.
Similar to last year, Bangor Chinese School organised an online party. Councillor John Wynn Jones from Bangor City Council also joined the celebrations.
Year of the Tiger
This year’s zodiac sign is the Tiger, following from the Ox last year and the Rat in 2020.
Those born in the Year of the Tiger are supposedly kind, adventurous and enthusiastic, but also display aggressive, short-tempered and anxious traits.
The tiger comes third in the Chinese zodiac, and is considered the king of all beasts.
Previous years of the tiger come in 1938, 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998, 2010 and this year, 2022.
A spokesperson for the Bangor Chinese School said: “The year of the tiger is supposed to be a lucky year, we hope it can wipe the global pandemics away and bring everyone live in north Wales best wishes and lighting the future. Happy Chinese New Year again!”
