The Rotary in Bangor is working hard to help those less fortunate in the local community.
Although life has been hard during the pandemic, Rotary members have reminded themselves there is always something they can do which will benefit others no matter how small.
Urged on by their District Governor, members donated clothes and toiletries for the homeless via North Wales Housing and St Mary’s Hostel in Bangor, in order to recognise their District designated “Homeless Day” which was on 24 July.
More recently rotary members have been pleased to work with North Wales Housing again to collect coats and warm clothes for those in need and they are particularly grateful to have this opportunity to show our motto “Service Above Self” in action.
Lorna Hughes, Manager of North Wales Housing said “Thank you so much to Bangor Rotary and everyone who donated the coats we recently received. These coats will really help those who are in need, helping to keep them warm over the cold winter. Thank you!”
Bangor Rotary President, Kate Maskall, said: “As Rotarians in Bangor, we are members of Rotary International and enjoy giving something back to our community, locally, nationally and internationally.
“We are very appreciative of the donations from our members, family, friends and the general public and want to say a big thank you to everyone who joined in this project.
“We share friendship through regular meetings and community projects and support each other through the ups and downs of life.
“Community service, social events, and fundraising are high on our agenda, and we have fun with everything we do! Why don’t you contact us on secretarybangor@gmail.com or 07932 149679 to find out more?”.
