Pontio Arts are re-opening to public audiences this autumn and one highlight of the upcoming programme is their first community show, Big Show/ Sioe Fawr by Maes-G Showzone.

Maes-G Showzone will be performing their Big Show/ Sioe Fawr at Theatr Bryn Terfel on the 29th and 30th of October.

The community group is led by Eirian and Steffie Williams Roberts working with children and young people from Maesgeirchen and the surrounding areas. The performance will showcase the hard work and endeavour of the children and tutors who have been preparing at Eglwys y Groes, when restrictions have allowed. The performance promises to show what can be done with hard work, determination and perseverance at a time when working together and community spirit is vital!

The community group have been working with young people since September 2020 and this will be their very first show with a live in-person audience! The ages of the performers range from 7 to 13 and this show will mark many of their first time performing on a professional stage.

Steffie and Eirian said: “Despite COVID-19, lockdowns and isolations these incredible children and young people have come together to build a spectacular show. Their hard work will be evident on that stage as they give a memorable performance with something for everyone. We couldn’t be prouder of each and every one of them for all their hard work & dedication and what they’ve achieved. We truly hope that the community can come and support them.”

Osian Gwynn, Director of Pontio Arts said, “We can’t wait to welcome Eirian, Steffie and the Maes-G Showzone team to Pontio this October. Community engagement is a very important part of Pontio Arts’ activity and I’m thrilled that we can platform local talents and this great community group! The fact that the performance takes pride of place at the centre of our first season since re-opening is testament to the hard work of the team involved!”
