Police Officers in Bangor are investigating claims that lone females are being followed by a group of men.
A post circulating on social media claimed a person was “grabbed by three men” at the top of Glanrafon hill and they attempted to drag the victim down the hill.
The men were described as white, all having brown hair and being in their early twenties. The victim states they were unhurt in the incident.
In a statement North Wales Police said: “Officers are aware of rumours circulating the Bangor area that lone females are being followed by a group of men.
“Despite no victims coming forward, police enquiries are underway and officers are appealing to anybody who may have information, or to anybody who may have been a victim, to contact them immediately.”
District Inspector Trystan Bevan said: “A number of enquiries have been undertaken so far, including reviewing CCTV however nothing untoward can be seen on any of the footage.
“Despite no victim(s) having yet made contact with us and nobody coming forward with information, we are putting a lot of resources into this so we need to establish if this is simply a rumour that is circulating the area or whether it is genuine.
“High visibility reassurance patrols will continue and anyone with information that can assist us should contact us on 101 or the live web chat.”
