A large number of properties in Bangor have been left without electricity after a sudden power cut at around 11.48am this morning, Tuesday 23 February.

 

A statement on the Scottish Power SP Energy website said: “There is a power cut in the LL57 postcode area of Bangor affecting properties in a widespread area.

“We had no advance warning of this and only became aware of it at 11:48 am. Our engineers are on their way to the area to investigate and repair the fault and our team will work to get your power back on as quickly and as safely as possible.

“We expect the power to be restored by 2:00 pm. Once they arrive, or when we receive any update regarding the cause, we will be able to provide you with more information.

“We apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.”

Gales and heavy rain have battered North Wales overnight and this morning and are expected to last until around 6pm on Tuesday – The Met office warned the area may experience:

– Probably some bus and train services affected, with some journeys taking longer

– Delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges likely

– It’s likely that some coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities affected by spray and/or large waves

– Some short term loss of power and other services is possible
