Bangor Kick-Boxers Jack Reece Jones and Billy Jones took their place on the podium at the World Martial Arts Championships in Portugal on Friday, with Jack winning three Gold Medals and Billy winning two Silver Medals. What makes their success even more special is the pair only started kickboxing earlier this year at The Dog House gym in Bangor.

Both fighters have been training intensively for the last ten weeks, including an early morning run at 4am followed by circuit training before they attend school at Ysgol Tryfan. During the evening they train from 4pm – 8pm, under the watchful eye of 19 x World Champion Darryl Gallagher.

The hard work has certainly paid off for the boys, but coach Darryl is already looking ahead to next year, he said: “The Dog House smashed it in the World Championships! 2 x fighters, 3 finals today, 3 golds! 2 silvers!

“I think it’s time an elite squad of fighters from North Wales started challenging for these titles!

“Next year I want a squad of us going away to represent Wales!”

The Dog House has regular classes for children and adults, to find out more visit their Facebook Page here:
