Bangor City have been successful in their application for the Football Association of Wales (FAW) Tier 2 Certification for the 2019/20 season, which is a pre-requisite for participation in the new ‘FAW Tier 2 Championship’ which begins in August 2019.

The FAW Tier 2 First Instance Body met today, 8 May 2019, in Cardiff to consider the applications for the 2019/20 season.

The Panel assessed 47 applicants for the Tier 2 Certification and clubs were assessed against a number of infrastructure and personnel criteria. 43 clubs were successful in the first instance.

Colwyn Bay, who will join the Welsh Football system next season, have also secured the Tier 2 Licence.

A club spokesperson for Bangor City said: “We are delighted with the decision announced by the FAW today.

“This puts us in good stead for applying for the tier one licence next season.”

“The search for a new manager, following the departure of Gary Taylor-Fletcher to Llandudno, is underway and details regarding that, plus player recruitment and the confirmation of pre-season friendlies for the 2019/20 campaign will be revealed in due course”.
