Ysbyty Gwynedd Hospital is located in Bangor in the suburb of Penrhosgarnedd. It has over 400 beds, including general medical and surgical wards, maternity, children’s ward and special care baby unit, intensive care, high dependency and coronary care units and mental health unit. The hospital has a 24hr Emergency Department.
Ysbyty Gwynedd also houses the headquarters of the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board.
We have rolled out flexible visiting times at all of our hospital sites across North Wales. This means that there are no set visiting times, and as a visitor you can see patients at a time to suit you, your family and the patient.
Please be aware that there are some specialist units where there may be restrictions to flexible visiting times. There will also be occasions when wards will not be accessible for short periods of time whilst staff attend to patients.
If you are unsure, please contact the ward prior to your visit.
No more than two visitors to be at the patient’s bedtime and any one time.
Children should be closely supervised, please check with Ward Sister or Charge Nurse before taking children on to a ward.
We strongly advise visitors not to bring small babies into hospital.
Visiting is not permitted over lunch and dinner unless you are assisting a patient to eat. A Protected Mealtimes policy is in operation.
Unfortunately flowers are not accepted on all wards. Please check with the individual wards before sending or bringing flowers.
